Shirley Ann Taylor, known to her friends as "Shirley B", 62, of Lacy Lakeview, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2004, at Lake Shore Village Nursing Home. She had been in a coma for three weeks due to a head injury.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Bro. Rex Bland officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2004, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video of her life will be shown during visitation.
Shirley was born October 9, 1941 in San Antonio to Amyie and Lue Ella (Royals) Ward, and lived in Waco most of her life. She graduated from Truman's School of Beauty in 1971, and was a hairdresser. Until her retirement, she was the owner of Ultimate Image in Lacy Lakeview. In 1988, she was presented a key to the City of Bellmead for her volunteer work for the Leukemia Foundation.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickey Lynn Hennig, in 1998.
Survivors include her mother, Lue Ella Brasher; daughter, Ginger Sims; sons, Christopher Mitchell and wife Roxanne, and Rex Taylor, all of Waco; sister, Linda Lopez of Sulphur Spring; grandchildren, Miranda Pierce, Blain Hennig, Jennifer and Jamie Sims, Brittany and Christina Mitchell, Garreth Taylor, and Jennifer Gill; great-grandchildren, Mi'Leigha Fields and Jacob Kohler, Jr.; three nephews and three nieces.
Pallbearers will be Chris Michel, David Shilling, Byron Pierce, Matt Gerdes, Bill Foitek, and Russell McMahon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Strickland, Lloyd Strickland, Floyd Strickland, David Hennig, Steve Ihlenfeldt, and Fred McMurtray, Jr.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or American Leukemia Foundation.
The family especially thanks the staff of the ICU at Scott & White for taking care of Shirley and her family, and Lake Shore Village Nursing Home for making her comfortable during her stay.
