Socorro Lopez
April 9, 1923 – November 25, 2013
Socorro Lopez, 90, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013. Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Socorro was born in Eula to Jesus and Barbara Ortiz, and was a talented seamstress. She was a devoted mother who loved to cook, especially preparing tamales for the holidays, she also enjoyed gardening. She was a member of St. Francis, and said her rosary daily.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ollie; parents; brothers, Jesse Espinoza and Romaldo Ortiz; and sister, Anita Martinez.
She is survived by sons, Ralph Lopez and wife, Yun Ki, Edward Lopez, and Thomas Lopez; sisters, Paula Ballesteros, Guadalupe Ortiz, Ester Gatiff and husband Eli, Barbara Vasquez, Mary Lou Martinez, and Lucy Jimenez and husband, Willie; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren: and many other relatives throughout the United States and Mexico.
The family especially thanks nurses Kim and Suzana for their loving care.
