Stanley Louis Jahn, 80, of Waco, died March 28, 2011. Those who knew and loved Stanley will always remember his bright blue eyes and the big smile he always had for everyone.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 8. Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Rosemound Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.
Stanley Jahn was born September 8, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas to William H. and Martha Schindler Jahn. He graduated from Waco Technical High School in 1948. Stanley married Norma Jean Jahn on June 2, 1953.
Stanley Jahn served in the Army Air Corp. as a photographic laboratory technician from 1949 to 1950. He worked for F.H. Surveying Co. and Jones & Williams Construction Co. from 1950 to 1956. During that time Stanley was also in the Air Force Reserves and completed a 4 year apprenticeship as a carpenter. He worked for the Texas Highway Department from 1956 to 1973. During that time, in 1957 Stanley graduated from the International Correspondence School in architecture and then became a registered Professional Engineer (Civil Engineer) in 1962.
He became a registered Public Surveyor in 1980 and was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Stanley started his own business in 1973, Jahn Company, which remained open for two years. He then worked for the City of Waco from 1975 to 1978. Stanley returned in 1978 to running his own business, Jahn Company, Inc., and worked there until 2006, when he retired at the age of 76.
Stanley was preceded in death by his sister Jimmie Ann Barker, daughter Karen Jahn Villers; and grandson, Andrew Thomas Jahn.
Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Norma Jean Jahn; son Phil Jahn and wife Cindy; son Tim Jahn and wife Lisa; granddaughter Casey Villers Hoag and husband Jared; grandson Matthew Thomas Jahn and Tammara Cook; grandson Chandler Jahn; grandson Brandon Jahn; sister Loretta Barlow; brother-in-law Dr. Don Barker; nieces: Laura Leach, Becky Thomas, Bretta Green and nephew Burkett Barlow.
Stanley was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, colleague and friend. He will be missed by all.
