Ms. Stella Jordan, 55, of Waco, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Living Word Church of God in Christ, 1005 Dunbar, with burial following at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Stella was born March 3, 1958 in Hillsboro, to the late Mr. Marvin Johnson and Mrs. Annie L. Carr Johnson of Hillsboro.

Stella mainly attended public schools in Hillsboro Texas, though she received her high-school diploma from Mineral County ISD in Hawthorne, Nevada. Stella was passionate about education and having a wide range of interest and goals, Ms. Jordan attended several higher-learning institutions and was awarded degrees in Business Management, (Hill College Hillsboro, TX); Computer Networking and Systems Administration, (TSTC Waco, TX); and later Medical Laboratory Technology, (MCC, Waco, TX). Stella also attended and received college credits from the University of Maryland, Kaiserslautern, Germany; El Paso Community College, El Paso, TX; and the University of Texas El Paso, El Paso, TX.

Stella met and married Mr. Jimmy Williams. To this union, two children were born; MaShunda Johnson and Veronica Williams. Stella later united with Calvin Jennings, they were blessed with one daughter; Sherika Jennings.
At a very early age, Ms. Jordan was baptized at McDonald and Pine St. Church of Christ (Hillsboro, TX), where she was a committed member of the youth group and acapella choir. She attended there for many years. Ms. Jordan later moved membership to Clay St. Church of Christ later becoming Park Lake Dr. Church of Christ (Waco, TX). Also, Ms. Jordan often attended Zion Hill Baptist Church (Waco, TX) and Living Word COGIC (Waco, TX).

Stella worked for several years in various settings and numerous employers to include: TSTC-Waco, housing department and Auto-collision and Management (Waco, TX); Veterans Affairs Regional Office (Waco, TX); and Durham School Services. However, it was her time serving her country in the U. S. Army that she was most proud.
Ms. Stella Jordan served as a Non-Commissioned Officer, and as a Patriot Missile Launcher Crew-Chief. Ms. Jordan completed missions in both Desert Storm and Desert Shield, where she was awarded several medals and honors. Other medals and ribbons awarded to Ms. Jordan during her tenure include: the ARCOM, Army Achievement Medal, Overseas Service, Expert Marksman, and Distinguished Graduate AIT. After many years of service, Ms. Jordan was honorably discharged upon medical retirement.
Ms. Jordan fought battles and wars with several different cancers for years. She was still a soldier, and managed to win a few of those wars. She fought a good fight. However, on April 25, 2013 she was forced to surrender.

She was preceded in death by her father and half-sister, Daisy Sanders.

She leaves to mourn her precious memories, mother, Annie Johnson; daughters: Mashunda Johnson of Longview, Veronica Williams of Houston and Sherika Jennings-Marshall of Arlington; step-son, Jermaine Bennett of Atlanta; brothers, Marvin Johnson Jr., S. Bruce Carr and wife, Monica of Orlando, FL; sisters, Annie Taylor and husband Melvin of Louisville, KY, Eleanora Crosby and husband Leroy of Hillsboro and Virginia Williams of Ft. Worth; grandson, De’Erric Jennings of Waco; long-time companion, Stan Williams of Baytown; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
