Susan Sanders

Susan Kathryn Sanders, 88, of Waco, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Shelton Markham officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Mrs. Sanders was born July 27, 1921 in Maxey, Texas to William and Tommie (Thrasher) Lassiter. She was married January 10, 1948 in Paris, Texas to Harold Albert Sanders. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved and enjoyed taking care of her large family. She was also a dedicated caregiver for the members of her family. She was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church where she was a longtime member of the Esther Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by a son, Harold Albert Sanders, Jr., in 1950.

She leaves her husband of 61 years, Harold A. Sanders of Waco; daughter, Maretta (Rita) Deatherage and husband, Don of Waco; sons, Kenneth Sanders and wife, Terry of Woodway, and David Sanders and wife, Tracy of Woodway; grandchildren, Renee and Micah Turner, Marcus and Sylvia Deatherage, Donna and Mac Templeton, Bryan Deatherage, Denise, Christine and Shawna Sanders, David Sanders Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Anthony, Priscilla, Robert, and Shirley Jeffery, and Harold Wayne Sanders; and great-grandchildren, Kassandra and Megan Ryman, Micah Lynn, Joshua and Jacob Turner, Ashton and Reilly Templeton; Kadance Deatherage, and Tristan, Mikayla, and Sophia Sanders.
