Susan "Susie" Hernandez Tovar, 62, went home peacefully on September 24, 2005 to join our Heavenly Father with family and friends by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mighty Wind Worship Center with Pastor Joe Carbajal officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Susie was born October 30, 1942 in Waco to Alex and Anita Hernandez. She worked at Marathon Technologies for 35 years.
She loved to entertain and host for her family and friends. She was a creative designer and it showed through her gardening and cooking.
She always loved watching the cooking channel and TBN. She was a long time member of El Calvario Presbyterian Church, and was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Abel Hernandez, and sisters, Sara Cazares and Esther Bravo.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kristan Tovar, Judy Tovar and husband, Steve, and Sharon Gonzales; four grandsons, Zachary, Jared, and Caleb Tovar, and Isaiah Villarreal; brother, Abraham Hernandez, and sister, Helen Martinez, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Mayes, Johnny Sandoval, Robert Cazares Jr., Rudy Bravo Jr., Joe Bravo Jr. and Ray Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family thanks everyone who helped including special friends Sara Ransom, Rose Garcia, and Gracie Castilleja, and beloved aunt, Becky Alvarado, and Providence Hospice.
