Thelma Inman

Thelma D. Inman, 96, of Waco and formerly of Fort Worth, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Providence Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Major Harvey Harwell of the Salvation Army officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Thelma was born and raised in Fort Worth. She was a former member of Riverside Baptist Church for over 68 years where she taught the Martha Sunday school class for 23 years. She taught the JOY class for many years.

She joined Western Heights Baptist Church once she moved to Waco and taught another JOY class in Waco. She was very active in each church. In Waco, she was a member of the "42 Club" and the Friendship Club. Thelma attended North Texas State Teacher's College and received her Bachelor of Science degree from TCU in Fort Worth. She taught the first grade for over 29 years at D. McRae School. Thelma was proud to know that she had taught the Mayor, Mr. Kenneth Barr. She took early retirement due to illness. Thelma then substituted at Diamond Hill Elementary School in Fort Worth for 25 years, having taught school for 54 years. She was so proud to receive the year book's being dedicated to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M. P. Inman; and her daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Hester.

Thelma is survived by her sister, Peggy Jane Kidwell of Waco; grandchildren, Debbie Teague and Willie Keith; 2 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
