Thelma Lee Knight

Thelma Lee Dees Knight, 88, of Waco passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Blackford officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.
Thelma was born in Rogers to Benjamin and Annie (Gipson) Dees. She married Carl Knight on September 28, 1940 in Buckholtz, and they enjoyed wonderful 71 years together. Even when she entered the nursing home two years ago, he faithfully visited her every day, missing only 10 days. She was a member of United Methodist Church, and enjoyed teaching Sunday School for 40 years. After moving to Waco, they attended Cogdell United Methodist Church. She was a member of Methodist Women's Club, Eastern Star, and the Business and Professional Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Monroe; and two sisters, Dwahana Stracner and Louise Tynes.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Knight; sons, Carl L. Knight and wife, Helen of Spring, and Randy Knight of Waco; daughter, Suellen Albright and husband John of China Spring; brother, Thomas Dees and wife Virginia for North Carolina; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
