Rev. Thomas Clyde Hart, 100, of Waco, died Sunday, May 9, 2004 in a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at the Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas, with the Rev. David Uth officiating.

Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Cemetery in El Dorado by OakCrest Funeral Home of Waco, Texas.

There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to come by OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, to sign the Register Book, or they may do so online by clicking the Guestbook symbol below.

Rev. Hart moved to Waco in 1998 to be near his son, Clyde Hart, Jr., the Baylor University Head Track Coach.

Thomas Clyde Hart was born September 11, 1903, the son of Calvin and Myrta Hart. He graduated from Crossett High School in Crossett, Ark., and Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark. He was ordained to preach in 1925, and was pastor of churches at Eudora, Ark., Tuckerman, Ark., El Dorado, Ark., and Hot Springs, Ark.

He served under the Home Mission Board of the Arkansas Baptist Convention for 14 years. He served as Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity under Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma Lee Hart, in 1974, and a second wife, Geneva A. Hart, in 1997, and a son, John Calvin Hart.

He is survived by John's children, Linda, Steve, Ralph, and Patrick, all of Houston; son, Thomas Lee Hart of North Little Rock, Ark., and his children, Kathy and Tom; son, James Brymer Hart and wife Carolyn of Crestview, Florida, and his children, Carla, Christy, and Dennis; and son, Clyde Hart Jr. and his wife Maxine of Waco, and their sons, Greg and Scott; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 701 S. West Ave., El Dorado, Ark. 71730, or to the Baylor Track and Field Excellence Fund.
