Thomas Touchstone
Thomas "Tommy" Ray Touchstone, age 67, passed away on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2006 at his home in Waco.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 2 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home in Waco with Chaplain Ralph McCulloh officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 6 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Tommy was born on Nov. 25, 1938 in Bryan, Texas to G.P. and Alice (Adams) Touchstone. His formative years were spent in Speegleville and Waco.
At the age of 19 his family moved to Ozona. He was served in the Army National Guard for two years. He worked hard all of his life and was a self taught jack of all trades. His gave his all to everything he did. He worked in the oil fields of West Texas, nursing in San Angelo, construction in Tampa, Fla., and Waco, and independent long haul driving nationwide
Tommy married his childhood sweetheart, the former Carol Ann Clinkscales, on August 20, 1994 in Speegleville.
Tommy worked hard and was a good provider for his family. He was a kind hearted, caring person who was thoughtful of others, and always willing to share his wisdom. He was a fighter all his life, never wanting to give up even in his last illness.
Above all he was a devoted family man who loved his children, taking them horseback riding and fishing and making them feel good about themselves always.
He had broad shoulders and enjoyed helping others.
He was preceded in death by his father, G.P. Touchstone, and his uncle, Roy Adams.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Carol Ann of Waco; sons, Anthony R. Touchstone, and Joseph Touchstone and wife, Tammy, all of Tampa; daughters. Theresa Fansler and husband, Ron of Copperas Cove, and Charlotte Jones of Lewisville; mother, Alice Moody of Amarillo; brothers, William Touchstone and wife, Shelly of Seminole, and Joe Lee Touchstone of Amarillo; sister, Liecia Moody of Amarillo; brother-in-law, Ernest Clinkscales and wife, Sherry of Houston; step-sons, Troy Jones and wife, Lori of Lorena, Clayton Jones of Houston, and Anson Jones and wife, Kathleen of Belton; grandchildren, David Scott and his wife, Brandi of Germany, Dashea Ivy and husband, Danny of Fayetteville, Ark., Jackie Clark and husband, Jimmy of Lewisville, Daryl Hynum of San Diego, Stephanie Joiner, Tasha Fansler of Copperas Cove, and Kayla and Nicholette, and Joe Touchstone, all of Tampa, Fla.; step-grandchildren, Lindsey Jones, Jennifer Jones and Dieanna Copeland, all of Huffman,Aaron Jones of Las Colinas, and Kyle Jones of Waco and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Bob Touchstone, Brandon Touchstone, Troy, Clayton and Anson Jones, and Ron Fansler.
The family thanks Odyssey Hospice for their love and care during Tommy's illness.
