Tommie Jo (MaGee) May, 81, passed away, Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Chapel Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at OakCrest Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Worley Officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2016, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Mrs. May was born June 28, 1935 in Victoria, Texas to Clyde H. and Willie Alma (Jones) MaGee. The family moved to Waco, in 1949. She met and married the love of her life, Edmond Forrest May. She began her career at Texas Life Insurance Company, and then joined Westview National Bank. Later she was employed by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Department, becoming one of their first female deputies, she was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer and retired in February 2001, after 21 years of service.
She loved her family and friends, and the get-togethers at the lake house at Lake Limestone. She worked with the Cub Scouts, and loved inspirational books, all types of flowers and birds. She was a member of Texas Association of Single Adults, after her husband died in 1978.
Mrs. May was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, son, Richard (Ricky) May and brother, Charles MaGee.
She is survived by her loving son, Randal Charles (Randy) May and his fiancée Lisa Gaskamp, of Speegleville, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Karen May of Austin, Texas, Amanda Gail May of Speegleville, Texas, and Justin Randal May of Leander, Texas; Great granddaughter, Mabry Grace Henry; and companion, Royce Rhodes of Groesbeck, Texas.
The family expresses their appreciation for the excellent care given to their mother by the staff of Providence Hospital and Providence Hospice.
Memorials may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, The American Heart Association or to Fuzzy Friends.
