Troy Linkous, 47, of Waco, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 12, 2009 in Waco.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7201 Viking Drive. Burial will follow at the Axtell Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Troy was born April 11, 1962 in Los Angeles to Joe Bedford Linkous and Irene Kohl Linkous. He attended Connally High School and graduated in 1980. Troy was employed at the McLennan County Probation Department for 25 years before retiring due to his health. Troy was a man who was always giving and thinking of others before himself. Even during his brief illness, he expressed his concern for his family, friends and associates and thoroughly enjoyed their company.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his nephew, Darren Linkous.
Troy is survived by his mother, Irene Linkous of Waco; sister, Sandra Linkous Tillery of Waco; brother, Thomas W. Linkous of Sandy, UT; nieces, Melinda A. Tillery and Veronika R. Tillery both of Waco and Jody C. Jensen of Las Vegas,NV; nephews, Kevin Linkous and Ryan Linkous both of Sandy, UT; and his great-niece, Aubrey Wynn of Waco.
Pallbearers will be Greg Glass, John Grusendorf, David Johnson, Mike McPhee, Robert Tillery and John Tyree. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the McLennan County Probation Department.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the entire staff of Providence Hospice and to his associates at the Probation Department for their visits and loving dedication to Troy.
