Velma Baker
Velma Jean Baker, 84, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Providence Health Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 13 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Price officiating. A private graveside will be held at Eddy Cemetery. Visitation with her family will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Velma was born August 7, 1927 in Eddy to Calvin Linear Murphy and Velma Crenshaw Murphy. She married Bill Roland Baker at the age of 17. Velma worked in many places during her life including Ira's, MC's, Ridgewood Country Club, The Burger Barn and Providence Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, her siblings and her two sons.
Velma is survived by her grandchildren, Jerry Baker, Dennis Baker, Dawn Baker, Jessica McMaster, Jennifer Baker and John Cody Baker; and several nieces and nephews.
