Vicki Sawyer

Vicki Sawyer, 81, of Waco passed away peacefully at her home Friday, August 18, 2023. She survived many health crises over the past several years, but was pain free and comfortable when she made her exit gracefully.

Vicki was born March 6, 1942 in Flint, Michigan to Laverne and Fame Grambush. Her life took many twists and turns before she settled in Waco, TX, where she remained until her death.

Vicki worked many jobs throughout her life, but was able to retire from her favorite job, a place that was once like a second home to her and her daughter (Lisa) at American Income Life Insurance.

Most people that knew Vicki referred to her as "Nana" - an endearing term she proudly carried from the first day she became a grandmother. Nana was her favorite title and the role she played the best. She also had a huge place in her heart for the many pets she had throughout the years. She leaves behind her 10 year old malti-poo, Darcy Beth.

Vicki is survived by her four children, Scott Hockin, of Flint, MI and his wife Diana, Steve "Marty" Dunaway of TN, daughter Cindi Moon of Waco, TX and daughter Lisa Perez of Waco,TX; 11 grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Emili, Amanda, Adrian, Arianna, Jerica, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Gabriella, and Angelina; as well as 9 great-grandchildren, Kaden, Corbin, Rylie, Lenix and several others she did not get the opportunity to meet.

She will be missed for her quick wit, sense of humor, selfless energy, and sound wisdom.

Visitation services will be held for friends and family at Oak Crest Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm. The family asks that those that attend wear plaid as this was Vicki's favorite go to attire.
