Victor Mark Hardin, 99 1/2, of Waco, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his home, Eden House. Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at Prairie Hill Community Center, FM 339, with Chaplain Irenka Viajnic officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Hill Cemetery. Visitation with friends and family will be 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, August 26, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Texas.

Mr. Hardin was born January 25, 1912 in Mustang, Texas, near Prairie Hill to the late Benjamin Mitchell Hardin and Martha Jane Watson Hardin. He was a respected farmer, rancher and skilled carpenter in the Prairie Hill area and was proud of his extensive career with the General Tire Company in Waco. He began work at General Tire when the initial buildings were under construction in the mid-1940's, and retired 35 years later in 1977. He sold his ranches near Prairie Hill and moved to Bellmead and later to Lacy Lakeview and Lakeshore Estates in Waco. He resided at Eden House, 2611 Lake Air Drive, at the time of his death.

He was a loving husband for over 76 years to Faye who passed on Feb.1, 2011. He was preceded in death by his brother, Debs in 2005, two sisters, Noma Hardin in 1993 and Artie B .Harvey in 1995.

He was a devoted father and is survived by two daughters, Nancy Thomason and her husband Henry of Waco, and Dorothy Weatherly and her husband Lee of Richardson. Known as "Pappy" he was a proud grandfather/great grandfather to two granddaughters, Vicki Thomason Zoch of Wylie and Camille Thomason of Austin, two grandsons, Bradley Mark Weatherly and his wife Lana of Prosper and Chris Weatherly of McKinney; great grandson, Ky Lewis of Dallas, and four great granddaughters, Haylee and Rylee Weatherly of McKinney and Katy and Caroline Weatherly of Prosper. His close extended family includes first cousins Joann Hardin and Mary Beth Kitt as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Waco, Meridian, Austin and Fort Worth.

The family would like to thank Anne and Paul Gibson, Debbie, Brandi, Renee, Nancy and Ivy of Eden House and also the Providence Hospice caregiving team and Sherrie Stickley, Odette Jaimes, and Loretta Hamby of Phoenix Care for their loving care of our dad. His friends at Eden House and Lakeshore Estates and the many visits from longtime friends Walter Renfro and Jesse and Curly Tabor greatly enriched his life.
