Ginny Crawford
January 24, 1947 – January 27, 2014

Virginia Scott Crawford, 67, of Irving, Texas, was surrounded by her family as she passed from this life on Monday, January 27, 2014 following a brave battle with ovarian cancer. Visitation will start at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at OakCrest Funeral Home followed by a service at 7 p.m. officiated by Rev. Charlie Dodd. Burial will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Ringold Cemetery.

Virginia Anne Scott, who also went by Ginny, was born on January 24, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas to James T. Scott, Jr and Annie Belle Staley Scott. On March 18, 1966 she married John Michael Crawford. Ginny and Mike raised two children, Scott Douglas Crawford of Longmont, Colorado and Lori Anne Crawford Davidson of Woodway, Texas. Ginny is also a proud grandmother of four: James (13) and Andrew (9) Crawford and Austin Burrell (17) and Alex Davidson (10).

Ginny loved the Lord and was encouraged by the verse Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares The Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. As a woman of faith, she poured all she had into growing spiritually-strong children.

She was a hands-on mom who volunteered as room mom, sewed endless costumes, organized Christmas ornament exchanges, and attended every sport/dance event for years. Her favorite hobbies were baking, stained glass, and tole painting. Her love of genealogy uncovered centuries of family history.

Once the kids were grown, Ginny reentered the work force and spent the last nine years working at Medco. Ginny thoroughly enjoyed the next phase of her life with grandchildren and honorary nieces and nephews very dear to her. She also enjoyed outings with friends and long drives with her sister, Lynn. Ginny met her cancer diagnosis in August of 2012 with determination and a desire to do whatever necessary to spend more time with those she loved. She referred to cancer as the "little c" because Christ was really the "Big C." That positive attitude carried her a year and a half more until The Lord called her home.
