Virginia Reeves

Virginia Springfield Reeves, of China Spring, passed away, Thursday, September 4, 2014. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation with the family will be 10 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Virginia was born February 22, 1935 in Lott, Texas to Cecil and Zoda Kathryn Springfield. She graduated valedictorian at age 15 from Chilton High School in 1950. She married Bobby Gene Reeves on January 25, 1954 in Waco.

Virginia was a loving, gentle and kind lady. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and kind Nana. She was blessed with wonderful neighbors that she often referred to as her other children. Those close to her knew that she was the world’s #1 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan, following his racing continuously online.

Her children knew not to call during any race, and any call afterward would inevitably begin with a rundown of any problems Dale had. She spent hours each day on her computer browsing any site that focused on her racing passion. For a 79 year old lady she was very comfortable and proficient around her computer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Reeves and her brothers Milford Ray Springfield and Carlton Springfield.

She is survived by her sons, Don and wife, Gwen (Crawford) Reeves of Cedar Park, Doug and wife, Susan (Becker) Reeves of Highland Village; and daughter, Donna Reeves Lamb of Katy; grandchildren, Erin Virginia Lamb, Connor Reeves Lamb, Brittani Smith, Audrey and Tate Reeves; nephews, Brian Springfield and Steve Springfield. She is also survived by her dutiful neighbors that were a continued blessing in her life, John and Debbie Binder.

The family especially thanks Mesha Colon from Home Health Resources, readers from Van’s Air Force and Holy Covenant UMC, and Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church for their prayers and support through this difficult time. They would also like to thank the “Little Sisters” for their friendship.
