helping her father on the farm. She always preferred to be outdoors. Her family later moved to a farm
near Hewitt, and she graduated from Lorena High School. In 1939 she married Charles Wesley Shaw Jr.
and moved to Waco. She took pride in her beautiful yard with many varieties of flowers. For many years
she was a homemaker and then worked for four years at Hillcrest Hospital and the next twenty five
years at Providence Hospital and De Paul.

After retirement in 1987 Virginia spent time taking care of the elderly and was named outstanding volunteer for her work. While living at the retirement community at the Cottages of Oak Springs for seventeen years, she could be found attending all activities and playing dominoes three nights a week. Virginia was an avid baseball fan and never missed watching a Texas Ranger game. She was a member of Youngblood Presbyterian Church in Robinson.
