Warren Mason

On Sunday, September 11, 2022, Warren Mason peacefully transitioned from this life into the Kingdom of Heaven. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Cogdell UMC, 1201 W. SH 6 Access Rd in Waco. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Cemetery. There will be visitation from 5:30 to 7:30 pm Friday, September 16th at Oakcrest Funeral Home in Waco.

Warren was born to Milton Stanley Mason and Ruth Clark Mason in Elgin, Nebraska. The family moved to Texas when he was six. He was the middle and “favorite” child, according to him, of the nine Mason brothers and sisters. He attended Waco area schools and graduated from Waco Technical High School in 1952. He worked for Interstate Theaters during his school years at the Waco Theater. After graduation he remained with Interstate Theaters shifting jobs to air conditioning maintenance for their theaters in Waco. He married Patsy Overton in 1953 and added to their happy family a son, Stan, and daughter, Lynn. He was actively involved in little league baseball and football, leading Boy Scout Troop 1 and Explorer Post 301 as Scout Master, and rarely missed any of Lynn’s basketball or volleyball games. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren always held a very special place in his heart and life, and he was at most of their activities. He always made life exciting for his loved ones. He was inducted into the US Army in 1954 and served in Korea. One of his favorite memories was his Honor Flight trip in 2016 to Washington DC, accompanied by his “butler” Stan and thirty-nine other veterans. After his discharge from the service, he attended air conditioning school at TSTC and spent the rest of his career in that industry. After retiring he went to work for MHMR as an air conditioning and maintenance tech for ten years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #92 for 50 years. He was also a Habitat for Humanity Cornerstone Club charter member and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, boating, and hunting.

Warren was preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years Pat; son, Stan and his wife Kathi; daughter, Lynn; grandchildren, Tim and his wife, Debbie, Makenzie and her husband, Gavin; and great-grandchildren Callahan, Josie, Layna, Reverie, and Ellie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cogdell UMC where Warren and Pat have been members for over fifty years.
