W.D. Hicks, 75, of Waco, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at a local hospital.

Services with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating.

Visitation will be 6 ? 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

W.D. was born in Escambia County, Alabama to Stokes and Maude (Phillips) Hicks. He served in the Navy during the Korean War for three years, then he joined the Air Force where he served 17 years including service in Vietnam.

He retired from the Air Force in 1972 as an aircraft mechanic, and worked for M & M Marrs Company in Waco until he retired from there. He married Anna Maude Adams in 1994 and she preceded him in death in 2004. He enjoyed his family, and was a devoted father.

He is survived by his son, James David Hicks of Woodway; two step-daughters, Susan Ann Jost of Robinson and Paula June Watson of Dayton; a brother, Julius Stokes Hicks and wife, Stella of Grand Bay, Al.; and two sisters, Ruby Lee Flowers and husband, Luther, and Eva Pearl Dyson and husband, Johnny, all of Saraland, Al.
