Weldon C. Wells
Weldon C. Wells, 74, of Waco died Saturday August 16, 2003 at a local hospital. Services are 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum with Bert Mercer, Dale and Wayne Wells officiating. Keven Wells will lead the Congregational Music. Burial will be in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Weldon was born on December 20, 1928 in Lamesa to Herbert Clay and Jewel (Moore) Wells. He started preaching at the age of 16 and was united in marriage to Joann Richards. Weldon graduated from Freed-Hardleman in Henderson, TN. He preached at West Church of Christ, in a church in Clifton for ten years, Aquilla for 30 years and was the County Auditor for McLennan County for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife Joann Wells of Waco; sons, Dale Wells and wife Mary of Indio, Calif, Wayne Wells and wife Cindy of Gainesboro, TN, Keven Wells and wife Donna of Richmond, VA, Troy Wells and wife Laurie of Moody; daughter, Donna Mixon and husband Terry of League City; brothers, Glen Wells and wife Annelle of Clifton, Doyle Wells and wife Kay of Austin and Ray Wells and wife Sharon of Bellview; 22 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and many other family members and very close friends. Weldon was a loving husband, father, doting grandfather, great-grandfather and was like a father to all who knew him.
