Wilburn Albert Davis, 97, of Waco, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Antioch Cemetery in Mt. Calm. Visitation will be 9 - 11 a.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Wilburn was born October 11, 1914 to William A. and Eula Lee (Berry) Davis in Billington. He had many passions through his long life. Wilburn worked as a carpenter for over 40 years in the Waco area. Wilburn loved going to the farm, fishing several times a week, tinkering with lawn mowers, and meeting his buddies at Bill & Bob's. He also loved picking up pecans, cooking, gardening, and working in the yard. Going to garage sales every Saturday finished out his weekly routine. But above all, Wilburn loved being around all of his Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eula Davis; his beloved wife, Rosie; daughters, Darlene Davis and Peggy Reed; eight sisters; four brothers; and grandson, Steve Hadley.
Wilburn is survived by his daughter, Wanda Priest and husband, Lloyd, of Crawford; son, John Hadley and wife, Linda, of Spegeville; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff on Station 2 at Ridgecrest for taking such good care of Papa, as well as a thank you to Providence Hospice.
