William Anderson

William E. "Bill" Anderson, 85, of Lorena, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2005, at the Olin E. Teague Veterans Hospital in Temple.

Services will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Neiedecken officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.

Bill was born November 25, 1919 in Sumrall, Mississippi. He worked for L.L. Sams as a glazier, installing stained glass windows until his retirement in 1980.

He served in WWII from January 1942 to December 1945, serving in England, Germany, and the Philippines.

He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing and having coffee with his many buddies at Lorena Fastime where he was affectionately known by all as "Pops."

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maude and Ezra (Lambert) Anderson; brother, Bruce; twin sister, Maxie Pearl, and infant daughter, Betty.

He is survived by his wife, Lelya Anderson of Lorena; daughters, Louise Mangham and husband, Marvin of Penrose, Col., and Pat Butler of Round Rock, and Linda Davis of Chalk Bluff; sons, Earl Anderson and wife, Becky of Lorena, Michael Niswinger of Waco; brother, Robert Anderson and wife, Olie; sisters, Wilhelmina Anderson, Monte Smith and Nita Bond, all of Mississippi; grandchildren, Rick and Bill Mangham of Penrose, Col., Eric and Melisa Anderson of Lorena, Dustin and Rebekah Anderson of Lorena, Allison Amling of Austin, John Lee of Austin, Jason Davis of China Springs, Shelly Shoemaker of Robinson, Paul Niswinger of Waco, and Josh Niswinger of Waco; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rick Mangham, Eric Anderson, and Dustin Anderson; and good friends, James Pitts, Larry Kelinske, and Brian Byrd. Longtime friend Ed Smith will be honorable pallbearer.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Olin E. Teague Veterans Hospital for their care and incredible kindness during his illness.

Memorials may be made to the Lorena Volunteer Fire Department.
