William T. "W.T." Fountain, 92, of Waco, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 17 at the OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Mesa officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Born on September 18, 1917, W. T. Fountain was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Fountain of Kountze. W. T. graduated from Kountze High School in 1935. He attended Lamar University in Beaumont, and started working for an engineering firm. On March 14, 1941, he married Carmon Frances Stephenson of Liberty; they had four children. W. T. worked for the Army Corp of Engineers from 1943-1947. He joined the Air Force and served in the European Theatre of Operations in World War II. After returning from World War II, W.T. returned to work for the Army Corp of Engineers. In 1972, W. T. and Carmon moved to Waco and became active members of the Austin Avenue United Methodist Church. W. T. retired in 1975 from Waco Dam & Reservoir.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmon Fountain, on Feburary 20, 2010.
W.T. is survived by his son, Mark Fountain of Golden, Colorado; daughters, Janet Kennedy of Glen Rose and Melba Kattner and husband, Rick of Camano Island, Washington; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
