William Hinkle

William Buel Hinkle, 86, of Waco, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, after a year-long battle with cancer. Services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 3 pm at the Woodway First United Methodist
Church, 21000 Woodway Drive, with Rev. John Dirk and Rev. Rebecca Hull officiating. Burial will follow in RoseHill Cemetery in Blooming Grove, TX. Visitation will be Friday evening, May 2, from 6-8pm at
OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco.

Bill was born on July 17, 1927 in Weatherford, TX to Oscar and Winnie Nash Hinkle. He received a football scholarship to Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, following which he was recruited to play minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. He then attended the University of Houston where he majored in engineering. As an engineer, he worked all over the world and made many friends worldwide. He spent a short time helping design and build award winning golf courses
in the US and Canada. He was an avid golfer, and played at many of the major golf courses around the
world. He had a true love and appreciation for the game of golf.

On May 22, 1999 he married Janiece McNatt Skinner in Waco at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Ged Collins.

Bill was a member of the American Legion, the Monday Sr. Golf League, and the Men’s Senior Coffee group at Shipley’s. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church where he also attended the Thursday Men’s Fellowship Breakfast. Bill was also an Associate Member of the Woodway First United Methodist Church and the Pathfinders Sunday School Class.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Fay Hinkle; sister and brother-in-law, Oreta
and Carl D. Harrison, and sister-in-law, Elmerine Hinkle.

He is survived by his wife, Janiece; daughter, Susan Lovett, and husband Terry of Houston;
son, Thomas Hinkle, and wife Betty of Beeville; brother, Coy Hinkle of Wichita Falls; grandchildren,
John Allen and Brayden Reilly of Beeville; step-children, Brenda DeBerry, Doug DeBerry and wife Lisa,
Marvin Skinner and wife Jan; and step-grandchildren, Trey Dromgoole, Dustin, Davis, and Dylan DeBerry,
Megan Lennon and Haley Skinner.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Scott and White Hospice and particularly Glen
Johnson, Linda Brown, Juanita Gallegos, Rosa Valdez and B. J. Carlisle.
