William Herschell Lockett, 80, of Waco, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Antioch Cemetery in Mt. Calm, Texas. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
He was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Frankston, Texas, to James and Clara Belle Lockett. He served in WWII and married Mary Leathers on Dec. 22, 1946. Bill was saved and baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church in 1950. He was a car dealer for 50 years.
Bill is survived by his wife; two daughters, Charlotte Pierce and husband Rohan of Schertz and Sandra Burnett and husband Gary of Kingwood; two sisters, Juanita Crump and husband Robert and Jennie Vee Tadlock and husband John; four grandchildren, Matthew Pierce and his wife Nona, Maryann Contreras and husband Henry, Rebecca Tschoepe and husband Clint, and Jason Burnett and wife Colleen, and six great grandchildren, Daphne, Tiffany and Cassidy Contreras, Justin Burnett, Kaitlyn and Lyndsey Pierce.
Pallbearers will be Rohan Pierce, Gary Burnett, Matthew Pierce, Jason Burnett, Henry Contreras, Clint Tschoepe.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Burns, O. L. Ashley, Tommy Golden, Tim Riley, Mark Ashley.
