William Patterson

Memorial Service: Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 A.M at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Waco, Texas 76710.

Bill ended his life in his home with family. His happy beginning was in Branford, CT to Lester and Georgianna Patterson. He grew up near the ocean and cold winters. Joining the Air Force in 1950, he became a Texan when he was stationed in Waco, Texas and met his life partner, Nelda Melrose, from Lorena. The birth of their two sons increased their happiness. Bill and Nelda celebrated 54 years of a joyful marriage, business partnerships, and a love of travel, especially to St. Maarten.

After his military discharge, Bill relocated to Ft. Hood, Texas in a civilian capacity, learning computer skills, and he and Nelda began property investing. After early retirement, Bill had time for community contributions to an Apple Club, Historical Society Board, Waco Symphony, MCC nursing scholarships, and several families in Nicaragua.

Bill enjoyed the memories he made with many friends and will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and compassionate support.

Survivors are his sons, William Sr. and Robert; grandchildren, Robert Jr., Megan Patterson, and Karen Patterson; siblings, Dick Patterson, Pat Reardon, and Barbara Melottl; and many nieces and nephews.
