Bill Sallee, 88, of Waco, died at Hillcrest Hospital on his birthday, November 13, 2013. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Ramsdell of First United Methodist Church of Waco officiating. There will be no visitation.
Bill was born in Waco to Dr. David Friday Sallee, D.D.S. and Francis (Bessent) Sallee. Bill graduated from The University of Texas in Austin and earned his Master Degree from Baylor University. He also graduated from the Harvard Modified Advanced Business Management Program.
While serving in the U.S. Navy he graduated from the Naval Tropical Medicine School at Treasure Island, CA, specializing in Epidemiology.
After serving on Subic Bay in the Philippine Islands and Okinawa during WWII and graduating from College, Bill began working at Ames Co, Division of Miles Laboratories in 1953 where he served as National Sales Manager.
He also served as National Sales Manager of Miles Consumer Products Division and later became Vice President of their Allergy and Dermatological Therapeutics Division. He retired in 1982.
Bill was an active member of The First United Methodist Church of Waco, The Wesleyan Workers Sunday School Class, The Kiwanis Club of Waco Seniors, Baylor and University of Texas Alumni Associations.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David Franklin Sallee and Robert (Bob) Sadler Sallee, and shortly thereafter by his sister, Betty Azevedo.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lorraine Roberts Sallee; sons, Bill, Jr. of Waco, Steve and wife, Anne of Oakland Park, FL., Bob and wife, Cindy of Fullerton, CA and Rick and wife, Dana of Framingham, MA; four wonderful grandchildren, Shannon, Dana, Corrine, and Maxwell; great-granddaughter, Quinn Meredith McCann; and daughter-in-law, Donna Sallee of Pompano Beach, FL.
Memorials may be given to The American Diabetes Association, The First United Methodist Church of Waco, Texas or the charity of your choice.
