William Wright

On Monday evening, August 7, 2006, just as the sun set in the West, William Samuel "Bunny" Wright, 70, left his earthly home to be in his Savior's arms and is now enjoying cool drinks of water after a long struggle with throat and lung cancer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the China Spring United Methodist Church with Pastor Allen Grant officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at the China Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.

Polk, Louisiana, then returned home to work for Central Freight Lines as a mechanic and traveling maintenance supervisor where he retired after thirty years to do what he enjoyed doing the best, working the land, driving his tractors on the farm and raising cattle and being at home at Rock Creek when the sun went down.

He served on the China Spring School Board for several years and was instrumental in the School's Dress Code.

He married Yvonne Bethany on February 21, 1958 in Gholson. He had a great love for his family and his many friends and his church. He had a very big heart and was always a very generous person willing to help anyone in need.

There is a legend that each of us is born under a star. It influences us, directs our footsteps, and is our link with God. It shines upon us all the days of our lives, and to follow. It is our destiny. When we are in danger our star is restive. When our star grows dim, it is God's way of preparing you for that which is to come. We may yet be young in years, but when it dies, so do we.

Today, my star is at peace as am I. I tell you none of this to frighten or sadden you, but so that you know I enjoyed each day as it was given to me. You can not plan for next week, next month or next year. I suppose that what I wish to say is that when your star flames out, you should have no regrets, you should be ready. You were my friends, and I am glad that my life touched yours, however briefly, for as long as my star permitted. -- William S. (Bunny/Red) Wright
