William (Bill) Yokus, Jr.
April 10, 1936 - November 19, 2007
William Yokus, 71, a longtime Waco resident, died at his home Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 after an illness. Rosary will be recited at OakCrest Funeral Home on Tuesday at 6 p.m. with visitation until 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, on Wednesday, Nov 21., at 1:00 p.m. with Father Albert Laforet officiating.
Bill worked many years with Kmart and Montgomery Ward but ended his sales career with Maryland Club Coffee. He was a native Chicagoan but has adopted Texas as his own. He was developing a reputation as an artist when cancer was diagnosed. He was a man with a great but unusual sense of humor with interests in many fields from politics to sports to the bird world in which he had a broad knowledge and music especially the big band sound and Dixieland.
Bill was a devoted husband and father and with his grandchildren being his special delight.
His father preceded him in death.
Surviving him are his mother, Helen Yokus, and sister, Nancy Martin, both of ElCajon CA. and his immediate family including Eolior, his wife of 46 years, sons, Bill Yokus of Grand Junction CO, Mike and wife Venita of Waco, Chris and wife, Lyne of Laredo TX and daughter Laura and husband, Craig of Friendswood. His grandchildren are Jack and Sarah Lynn of Laredo and step grandchildren David and Amber Hadley of Waco. He had a large family of in-laws, nieces and nephews to whom he was endeared as well as his long time friend Al Noftz of Chicago.
He was a good man who is dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
