W.M. Lewis
W.M. "Dubb" Lewis, Jr., 88, of China Spring passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005, at a local care center.
Services will be 1 pm Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Military graveside rites will follow at China Spring Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 pm on Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.; a memorial video honoring his life will be shown.
Dubb was born on August 26, 1917, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to William Marvin, Sr., and Florence Lou (Cook) Lewis.
He married the love of his life, Billie Honea, on July 2, 1949, in Waco.
Dubb was a WWII veteran having served his country in the Army Airforce in Northern Africa and Italy; Dubb retired from the United States Air Force after serving 23 years; he was proud of his country and very patriotic.
Later he and Billie owned and operated a grocery store in Golinda. He was a loving and doting husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Dubb enjoyed life to the fullest, constantly whistling. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, bird hunting, sports, and reading and watching old westerns.
He is survived by his wife, Billie, of China Spring; sons, Larry T. Lewis and wife, Gloria, of San Antonio; William M. Lewis, III, and wife, Nan, of El Paso; and Clinton W. "Clint" Lewis and wife, Anne, of Beaumont; daughter, Carla Ramon, and husband, Maurice, of China Spring; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Clouse of Bakersfield, Calif. and Winnifred McEwan of Lake Forest, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be from the United States Air Force and all the grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
