Zak Arthur Kleypas

Zak Arthur Kleypas, 31, of Crawford, flew from this earth on April 23, 2021 in Austin while in the arms of his parents, brother, and sister. Services will be at 6 pm Wednesday, April 28 at the Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, TX

Zak was born June 13, 1989 in Waco, to Art and Cindy Kleypas. He graduated from Crawford High School in 2007 and afterwards he started his own business, Survivor Lawn Care, and loved what he did.

Zak got his first dirt bike at age 6, and his life long love of riding and racing motocross began. Most weekends you could find him at the track riding with his friends and when he wasn’t behind the handlebars, drawing a crowd with his jokes. Recently, Zak and a group of riders were honored in riding for St Jude.

Zak married the love of his life, Ashley, and he loved her till his very last breath. A major part of Zak's life revolved around his love of animals which included his four fur babies, ChiChi, Bentley, Boogie, and Merci.

Zak was an amazing husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He lived by the motto “If you're not first, you're last” and his smile was bigger than Texas. He spent his last day doing what he loved and rode into heaven like a king. Zak miraculously survived cancer at the age of 8 and and lived every waking moment to the fullest, earning him the name “fly boy” by many friends. As always, a true hero, in his last moments became an organ donor.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Rita Kleypas; maternal grandparents, Charles Oliver, Ruth Evans, and friend, Justin Harlan.

Survivors include his grandfather, George Kleypas; beloved parents, Art and Cindy of Crawford, TX; his sister, Amy and her husband, Blake Prince of New Orleans, LA; brother, Zek Kleypas and his wife, Stacey of Temple, TX; and brother, Christopher McLaurin of San Angelo, TX, along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers are Chase Sobola, Jason Kleypas, Kelley Shannon, Dustin Morrow, John Burroughs, Dave Talbert, Nicolas Byrer, and Heath Stanford.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, and the SICU doctors, nurses, and all other employees for working so hard, and their kindness. Also, the family would like to thank his Motocross family, we are eternally grateful for the happiness you added to his life.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Humane Society of Central Texas.
