Janis Marie Echols
June 12, 1946 – December 8, 2014

Janis Marie Echols, Administrator of Echols Memorial Church of God in Christ in Waco, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at her home after a brief illness.

The service will be Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 AM at the Living Word Church Of God In Christ, 1005 Dunbar St., Waco.

The Wake will be Friday, December 12. from 7 PM - 8:30 PM at Echols Memorial, 224 Birch, Waco.

Janis was the youngest daughter of the late Elder & Mrs. I. L Echols, Sr. She was a graduate of G.W. Carver High School and received her B. A. degree in Mathematics from Houston-Tillison College in Austin. She retired after 15 years as an educator in WISD schools and 27 years in the TSTC Math Department. She worked diligently in the church for more than 50 years, giving fulltime service in fasting, prayer, and finances.

She leaves to mourn her passing a sister and four brothers: Barbara A. Wilder, Israel Echols, Jr. (Bobbie), Dr. William Echols (Pearlene), Anthony Echols (Priscilla), and V. Wayne Echols, Sr. (Angela).
