Obituary for John Rodriguez Sr.

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, John Rodriguez, Sr., 70, of Waco, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015. A graveside service with military honors will be Wednesday, September 2 at 10:30 am at Oakwood Cemetery. The procession will leave OakCrest Funeral Home at 10 a.m.

John was born February 20, 1945 in Mt. Calm, Texas to Joe and Beula (Godfrey) Rodriguez.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, later retiring from the Texas Army National Guard with 24 years of service. He was also a longtime employee of Safeway and VA Hospital, retiring from both after many years of service.

On May 8, 1988 he promised to love Christine Sancillo Rodriguez “till death do us part” and he kept that promise for 27 years. John was a kind hearted man that loved his children and grandchildren. He will be loved always and missed immensely by his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Juanita Smith; and brother, Wallace Rodriguez.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Christine Rodriguez; sons, Timothy Joe Rodriguez and John Rodriguez, Jr. and wife, Tayna; daughter, Jennifer Sancillo; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Caldera; sister-in-law, Tillie Rodriguez; brother-in-law, Floyd Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Elias Sancillo, Christopher Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, Leon Andrade, Leon Deleon, and Timothy Joe Rodriguez, Jr.
