Hannah Raquel Trate
Hannah Raquel Trate, 25, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. A Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 3 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Hannah was born on December 18, 1990 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Michael and Everlyn Trate, while Everlyn was on active duty Air Force stationed at Intelligence Pacific (IPAC) Camp Smith, HI. There she developed a love for the ocean and the lifelong dream of becoming a marine biologist. Hannah also lived in Colorado Springs, CO with her parents, not far from where her sister is now attending college at UCCS.

When her mother’s last duty assignment became Arlington, TX, Hannah attended elementary, middle school and high school in the Martin HS District. Fifth grade began her love for the violin and the development of her musical talents, which she carried on through college. She loved swimming and playing pool games with the neighbors, the 4 Drennon girls and her little sister. Hannah had many fond memories of swimming and cooking out in the back yard. Hannah was also a Girl Scout for several years, earning multiple badges. She was an honor student throughout her school years and was selected to participate in the People to People program, traveling to Italy, France and England.

When Hannah’s family moved to Waco, TX, she attended and graduated from Waco High School, Class of 2008. She attended McLennan Community College, majoring in Biology.

Hannah also attended Richland Community College – Garland while living with and attending to her father, until his passing on March 13, 2013. She then returned to Waco and worked at Another Season with her cousin, Abbey, and her work family.

Hannah most recently began working at the Doris Miller VA and was well liked and remembered for her hard work and beautiful smile.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Anthony (Ramos) Trate; uncle, Brian Trate; paternal grandparents from Connecticut; and cousin, Jeremy White of Arkansas.

She is survived by her mother, Everlyn; step-father, Ethan Humphrey of Bruceville; sister, Madison Trate; grandparents, Jan and Steve Matlock of China Spring, TX; uncle, Rick White and his wife,Tricia, and cousin, Abbey of Hillsboro, TX; uncle, Rocky White of Burleson,TX; cousin, Heather Moore and family of Burleson, TX; grandparents, James and Lue Vona White and family of McAlester, OK; many aunts, uncles, and cousins from Connecticut to California; and a myriad of friends.

The family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family and friends worldwide and requests you consider saying a prayer for her sister, Madison Trate as she pursues her college degree. Always remember to smile, laugh often, and "just press play!"

Though gone too soon, Hannah’s legacy lives on through the gift of life that she so generously gave to others.
