The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dorothy Buchanan can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Carol Copeland
Condolence: Mrs.B, Dottie, as I think of her, of all the wonderful memories recalled through her generous uselfish sharing of her love of books and all things reading!!! My students loved her and were thrilled to know it was "Library Time"! Our Lord must have needed the BEST librarian in Heaven, knowing her service to others would always shine here on earth. I will treasure her friendship and the talent she shared!

Condolence: Mrs. B was one of a kind. She had such a loving heart. She was at mountainview when I went there in the 90's and she was still there for my daughters elementary carreer! I have never seen another library with such a wonderful and extensive collection of characters to match the books. Every book fair I took pictures because I just love how much she cared and kept her collection lovely. Her reading time was so wonderful. Thank you Mrs. B for all of the love and attention you put into your work. Prayers for the family and friends.

Condolence: I remember Mrs. Buchanan fondly as my fourth grade teacher in 1960. I know that her influence is spread widely through her former students, colleagues, and family, and her memory will be eternal as her influence spreads through the generations.

Condolence: Mrs.B was truly an angel. As a 4th grader, I could not pronounce my Rs and I was teased, mostly by my brother!!! She gave me a speech that had purple mountains majesty in it and I cried. She realized why I was so upset and sent me to a speech therapist and within 4 visits, I could pronounce my Rs!!! She was also one of the most special ladies at Highland Baptist Church that probably saved more kids than anyone. I'm sure some of those kids would be behind bars today if it wasn't for her and Clemmie McClain! I love this woman so much and the only thing that helps is knowing where she is and she is having a ball. Thank you Mrs.B for your love, friendship and support. Patty Prim Hart

Condolence: Mrs. B was a very special lady to me. She was my librarian and dear friend at Mountainview. I was not a good reader growing up, but Mrs. B knew that I liked to read really tiny books. She would save all of the teeny little books for me to check out when my class came to the library each week. Two books I remember her holding for me over and over were Harold and the Purple Crayon, and The Tale of Peter Rabbit. That helped a nonreader, like me, desire books. I am now an elementary educator and I hope to serve in the public schools until I'm 83, just like Mrs. B. Many prayers for comfort and peace to your family.

Condolence: Ms. B was one of a kind. The best of the best, the sweetest of the sweet. She was my 4th grade teacher at Mountainview many years ago. When our kids started school, we decided to stay in this district because she was still at Mountainview. We loved her more than words can say. She was always full of cheer and kind words. Ms. B held a very special place in the hearts of many people. She will be missed, but we all know she's in heaven, probably still spreading her cheer with that precious smile. We love you Ms. B, you made our lives a lot brighter with your love. Patti, Barry, Jennifer and J. Michael

Condolence: Dottie was not just a librarian to our family. She became a part of our family,to those living in Waco and to those living in Lubbock. To me personally she was a friend, co-worker, and confident. She was a going out to eat and going to the show buddy. We had fun and laughed and cried together. Most of all she was the heart and soul of Mountainview. I will miss our phone calls.
