Jim, better known as Dr. Mo, started in the funeral service profession over 50 years ago. He earned a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Texas A&M, and has always felt that "service to humanity is the best work of life." He sincerely thanks God for leading him to a variety of helping professions.
A licensed funeral director in Texas and Arkansas, Dr. Mo is Managing Partner of OakCrest Funeral Home. He also has served as the President since 1996 of Higginbotham Funeral Homes of Texas, Inc., primarily a family-owned corporation established in 1881 and based in Waco.
Dr. Mo has lived in Waco for the past 42 years and has taught Business Analytics at Baylor University for 30 years. He has been named an Outstanding Professor for several years.
Dr. Mo's dedication to helping others has been reflected in his many multi-career successes and his active involvement in Waco community organizations and church life:

Travis was born in Waco and then attended and graduated from China Spring High School. Travis and his wife, Leah moved to Tyler, where Travis worked for East Texas Medical Center, earning the title of E.M.T. of the year in 2019 as an emergency medical technician. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in business in 2021 with Suma Cum Laude honors.
He is a very active member of his community as a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge #585 and Meridian Masonic Lodge #268. Travis is also a member of Karem Shrine in Waco. He still holds a membership at Dixie Lodge # 272 in Troup, Texas, as well as # 25 Ascension Commandery in Tyler, Texas.
Travis is proud to call central Texas home again and is dedicated to the families he serves.
Vidal was born in Waco and attended Waco schools, graduating from University High School.
He is very active in the Waco-McLennan County community, serving on many boards and commission. Vidal is an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving on local and district levels, L.U.LA.C council 273, Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, St. Louis School Advisory Board.
Vidal is a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He is fluent in Spanish and the Spanish culture, and he is an international speaker and Master of Ceremonies.
He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Science, and for several years, he was a director at Wilkerson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home before becoming a funeral director with OakCrest Funeral Home.
In his work, Vidal promises that he will meet the needs of families and exceed their expectations by providing a funeral service, memorial service, or tribute that is personalized and reflects the life of the deceased.
Ashlie was born in Waco, attended local schools and graduated from A.J. Moore Academy in the top 10% of her graduating class. She has a diverse management portfolio including managing a sports and billiards establishment in Odessa, TX for many years and as an overnight manager for HEB. She worked as a 911 medical dispatcher with American Medical Response for a few years before joining the OakCrest family in July of 2023. She has 3 children, Acineth, Kysen, and Valiegha. Ashlie devotes her life to her family, as well as the families she helps to serve every day at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Joe is a lifelong resident of Waco. He is a 1972 graduate of Waco High School and has been a faithful funeral director's assistant since 2011.
Joe has been a member of the Central Texas Catholic Men's Group for many years. He has proudly served as a Sacristan and Head Usher at St. Louis Catholic Church for over 12 years.
He assists with setting up visitations/funerals and helping families with special needs.
