Clara- Her Inspiration to Others

There was probably a thousand cards/notes or more that Kenny and Keith found when they went through our Mother's home several years back to begin clearing the house when it was known that she would not be able to go back home.  Mother had kept these many notes received from family and friends.  So many of them expessing the writer's appreciation for Mother having heped them in this or that way......each stating the encouraement and inspiration that she had on them.   She was a tremendously giving but quiet person of Faith.  She did so much to encourage others but quietly and not in need of attention.   We knew that our Mother was special and giving of herself to her sons and to her Grandchildren but we had not known the extent of her encouragement to others.

One example was the note she had received from someone she had met while shopping at J C Penny's.   The woman she met apparently shared with Mother her troubles or a need she had and the note to Mother expressed how much of an inspiration and help she had been to this new friend.

And another encounter came when I visited an audiologist to have my hearing checked.   The audiologist, asked me if by chance my mother was Clara Howington.   After answering yes, she went on to say that she had met Clara at the clinic a good while back and in conversation she had told Mother that her husband had died and that the death of her husband had been so difficult on her but especially on her young daughter.   Mother offered to talk to the young girl and she ultmately did talk to her.    The audiologist told me that Clara had been such a blessing to her and especialy to her daughter.
